Well, we are home and Mallory has just fallen asleep. She is doing well. The surgery was easy and successful. She is the proud owner of a type of ear tubes that will last for 3 years to possibly 5. They also suctioned both of her ear canals. However, there is some concern regarding her ear drums. Apparently, they are loose and weak. They are supposed to be strong and tight but the doctor thinks they will repair themselves.
We go back in 2 weeks for a follow up visit. I'm not sure, but I think she will have another hearing exam.
The hospital was awful. We will not go back to Reidsville. In fact, I don't even care that it is an hour closer than Savannah. The nursing staff were terrible and they were ready to discharge my baby within 10 minutes after she awoke from anesthesia. She was groggy, nauseous, and had begun vomiting. They were still trying to get us out the door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The worst part: They allowed Mallory to wake up without me at her bedside. Can you believe she had to wake up in pain and alone and scared. No, we will not be going back.
I'm just glad Mal is okay and that we are home. It has been a long day.
BTW, had a very long and nice telephone conversation on Sunday night =)
:) Glad it's over; hope the follow-up goes well
